Fatherhood: The Catalyst for Purposeful Ambition

This week, my life changed forever. I became a father. Spending the first few days with my son has already began to reshape how I see the world and my place in it.

Fatherhood, I am realizing, is a catalyst. An accelerant for me to take my life goals, ambitions, and responsibilities to new heights.

Here are 6 foundational elements of the life I want to build for my family in 2025.

1. Become financially secure

Add multiple streams of income. Increase my savings and investing. Build something sustainable that can support my family no matter what happens. I will rekindle and expand my digital products business and courses, and maybe even consulting.

An ego-driven goal is to have my highest earning year yet from active income streams, non-investment related. It isn’t just wanting more stuff —it’s about freedom, stability, and options for my family.

2. Propose to my partner and have at least 24 dates in 2025

Watching her go through what she did with such love and grace set this in stone. She deserves everything, and I’m ready to take that step. At the same time, I want to make sure we stay connected. Life can get busy, especially with a baby, but we’re setting the goal of 24 dates next year. That’s two a month to slow down, be together, and keep building our relationship.

3. Become a world-class consultant and business analyst

This is where this newsletter comes in. Welcome to the first edition, by the way. I want to become a sponge for something I am truly passionate about. Over the past 8 months, I’ve realized that great consultants are great communicators, both written and spoken. This newsletter will be my way to explore and improve these skills. It’s a work in progress, but it’s a step toward mastery in my craft.

Part of this goal is to dive deep into the industries I work with, to really understand the challenges they face and the solutions they need. It’s not enough to know the theory; I want to know the reality—the nuances and the details that separate good advice from great advice. I also want to learn from the best. Whether it’s reading books, taking courses, or connecting with experienced consultants, I’m committed to consistent growth. I want to be the kind of consultant who makes a real difference, not just for my clients but for their teams and customers too.

Writing this newsletter is also about accountability. If I’m sharing ideas and lessons with you, it pushes me to stay sharp, stay curious, and keep learning. Hopefully, it’ll help others grow alongside me too.

4. Move my family into a bigger home (again)

2024 was spent renovating and remodeling in preparation for our son. Now he’s here, I realize size and convenience are limiting factors. The goal is to upgrade us from a small 3-bed to (hopefully) a larger 4-bedroom house. Something with space for a garage or a home gym, where we can spread out, grow, and create new memories as a family. A home where our kids can have room to play and explore.

5. Be obnoxiously present as a father

I was blessed with incredible parents who made the time to always be there when it mattered. I want to carry that forward. Whether it’s the big moments or the everyday little ones, I want to be there. All the above goals pale in comparison to this. Being present is about showing up—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. I want my son to know he has my full attention and support.

6. Take care of myself so I can take care of others

Taking care of myself is essential if I want to show up for the people who rely on me. That means getting in my best shape ever—physically, mentally, and emotionally. My goals are clear: run a marathon and join the 1,000 lbs powerlifting club. PS; not overly interested in the street cred, I see these goals as forcing functions for building discipline and resilience.

I also want to create habits that stick. Whether it’s consistent workouts, better nutrition, or prioritizing sleep, the idea is to make self-care a non-negotiable part of my routine. This isn’t just for me; it’s for my family. I want to have the energy, focus, and strength to be the father, partner, and professional they deserve. Leading by example is important too—showing my son that health and well-being are worth the effort.

These are the goals I’m committing to as I step into this new chapter. It’s all about showing up, being intentional, and building a life that’s worthy of my families future. Let’s get after it.
